I am a native of Chilton County, Alabama and live in the country far from the big cities. My channel is a mixture of videos from my hobbies about the things that I build, the tools I use and various activities around my house. I enjoy the process of taking discarded or unwanted logs and turning them into projects. I have had a love of woodworking since I was a kid. I have unlocked my creative side since purchasing my own sawmill and learning how to make projects from scratch. I enjoy helping others and sharing my knowledge with those with similar interests.
Since the creation of my channel, it has grown and I am thankful for that growth. I have signed up for affiliate programs with some online shops including Amazon, XTool and any other products that I link directly in my videos. If you purchase using these links, I will receive a commission from the sale. I remain unbiased and honest in my assessments as always.

I only run my LP4 on Lightburn. LPs software is buggy as hell
I just didn't like the way it ran in lightburn. Maybe it would just take getting experience with it.
@@TheClackShack I can see why you wouldn't like it. It was my first venture with Lightburn so I didn't know better. I liked it and had far less issues than I did with LPs software which was SUPER buggy. Lots of issues, and many documented in their FB groups. All those issue disappeared when I switched to Lightburn. I originally switched to Lightburn to learn the software as I knew I'd be adding another laser, which I have now done with a Lasermatic MK2 XW. I was prepared to use it right out of the box since I familiarized myself with Lightburn already. It was nice being able to do basic things like pause a job or stop a job for whatever reason and just restart without having to disconnect from the machine and reconnect, which is required with the LP4
I have one of these and it’s pretty slick. For some reason the anodized cards turn out better on the LP4 than on my F1. Both are great but the LP4 IR seems to turn out better for me for some reason. I got the enclosure with mine and it’s a good investment. Handy device and the software has gotten a lot better since I first got it.
I was pleasantly surprised with the LP software. The enclosure would be a great addition and make the work flow better.
LP, to me, seemed to be an innovator for home lasers when LP1 came out. I can see the "inspired" parts in other companies that followed, especially including multiple lasers in 1 unit. I think it still has a home, especially for niche work. I don't think I would use the extra attachments myself, but they do seem nice. And I agree about the cone. It seems a good idea if you need to use it for hand-held engraving, but on the desk, I would prefer the enclosure or shields like some other fibers.
Yea, that is my only real complaint from my perspective.
I have the original LaserPecker (small cylinder looking thing) and got the adjustable stand and enclosure. It was my first laser machine and was very surprised at what it could do. LaserPecker has come a long way (and astronomically more expensive) but they were always high quality laser engravers. I'd bet there is an auto focus on that machine. Mine has autofocus and with the adjustable motorized base it will automatically adjust the height to the correct focus. I have since moved onto bigger higher powered lasers but still pull out the LaserPecker every once in a while for the nostalgia it brings me. It's still a very nice laser even now (plus it will run off a portable battery bank). Great video.
Yea, maybe I missed the auto focus. I really would have liked having the battery bank, more so than the sling bed.
That laser has terrible image quality.
How do you really feel about it?😅 Kidding, but do you have one or just based on reviews? I have a diode and Co2 and would like a portable to go to shows with me, just haven't decided which route to go.
It actually has really good quality
Shame Comgrow no longer offers this upgrade module for z1 owners. They never responded to inquiries on this module and now appear to be sold by a company called Sovol who responded to my inquiry with “ It is not recommended to upgrade your z1 to 20w. The installation positions of 10W and 20W are different, and the adapter cables are also different. It is not recommended to change.” Seems like a load of hog wash, too bad it’s not around anymore.
It worked pretty well for me, I am not sure why they stopped using it.
what was the line interval that you used? been trying that myself I kept on "scratching" the mirror. TIA. Been going to your video over and over to get mine working.
Defocus a bit. Usually around 200
Great review. Do you have any other recommendations for 600x600mm that won’t break the bank?
There aren’t many 600x600 machines out there. Most are smaller or bigger
Hey do you or would you use a small dry paint brush to brush the soot away instead of compressed air. Or do you avoid doing that especially with leather.
You could, I use compressed air. Less smearing
Hot dog! Them are some good lookin ' dog tags. Very cool 😎 Greg
Thanks
New jigs or adapter jig from the f1?
Recycling what I have. Just adapted the F1 jigs..
How do you like it so far?
Not bad.. Lightburn on it is not great. There mobile app is pretty awesome. The desktop software is actually good to be as simple as it is.
Nice!!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Thanks.. Glad you like it
They are lined up like soldiers ready for battle! Greg
They gonna get to put in some work
I see you have used both the ORTUR LM3 and the Atomstack A24. Which did you like better? the Ortur now has a 20W version as well.
Capabilities wise, they are very similar in performance. Either one I think would be a good machine. The Ortur has an advantage if you plan to do larger items because it can be expanded to a longer frame. The A24 has a smaller work area and cannot be extended. On the other hand, the enclosure and accessories such as fan and camera are nice with three A24. The Ortur enclosure is cloth type. Decide how big of a work area you want and how important the enclosure is…
@@TheClackShack Thanks for the insight!
I'm looking to invest in a laser machine for my small business. Between the Xtool S1 40W and the We Create 40, which one would you recommend for someone just starting out? I'm particularly interested in ease of use, durability, and the quality of the final output. Appreciate any insights you can share!
If I were choosing, I would consider the work areas. The S1 has a larger work area. The WeCreat is t a bad machine but I feel the XTool software is better.
1: Make your enclosure from fire retardant material like laminate board made with mineral fibers 2: DON'T use powder extinguishers - the powders commonly used in cheap consumer extinguishers with ruin everything in your shop 3: get a full-size CO2 extinguisher or one for kitchens - the latter ones not only optimized for fat/oil (not our problem) but will also minimize collateral damage 4: extract your fumes but use a spark trapping device between enclosure & fan 5: A fire blanket is cheap (IKEA family shop) and can help to control the fire 6: If you can, replace your enclosure window with a camera and a monitor - you DO have to protect your camera sensor from laser exposure though! Often times an old Canon Powershot hooked up to an old Laptop is cheaper than a small certified laser window...
Sounds like it would work
I just got the 30 and the 60 this week. Very nice bitt although they do not like hdpe. Lol. I'm looking forward to getting the uptouwn and the downtown jennys next.
I only have a couple more to get. I run the down cuts a lot.
@@TheClackShack I want to try the beast from idc.
Hello friend, two questions, I bought the same one, but I am new to this world, what power and speed did you put on it to cut the acrylic like this? And what distance do you recommend placing the laser from the acrylic product? Thank you
Speed tests are needed, all material varies. You must focus to the material, I don’t recall the exact height. Use the focus tool
what bits are the numbers?
Its almost a full set, numbers are the same on Cody's speed and feed chart.
Can I input my own pattern, and use WeCreat to cut through a image ? and how?
You can design it and import the file. File design is a complex but versatile process.
How did he get past the motion sensors?😅
He was here when I was testing... He was invited...lol
Wow that came out nice
Considering I just unboxed it, I thought so too. Now to fine tune the settings.
Great video. Thanks. What settings do you use for a white tumbler?
Tumblers, especially white ones need testing. It also depends on the image and power of the machine.
Also, also. If a customer says they'll come back, offer to hold their purchase or ship it later. Small items are super cheap to mail. Just build in shipping costs (also build in booth costs).
I don’t do shipping. No time with my 2 full time gigs
Totally agree! But I tend to make my own blanks to differentiate my products. OR I modify purchased blanks (e.g. I add 1/4" magnets to one side of the bottle openers for value added).
Cool
Sure enjoy all the great information you share. I have a 40W unit on order and even though I won't be using Lightburn right away it is great to know this ahead of time. Thank you again.
The added compatibility is a big deal to me. Their software is ok but no where near as flexible as lightburn.
Can you share a link for the generator you mentioned ?
amzn.to/3xyr1V4
Do you have a favorite source for your 4.5mm blank stock?
My local Russel Do It center
Did you happen to actually measure the box dimensions in Wecreat vs Lightburn ? Asking, as when I draw let’s say a 2 inch square….and engrave in Wecreat…it is exactly 2”…. but when I do the same in Lightburn… it is not 2” square…. more like 1.8 x 2.1 . I am assuming this is a Lightburn issue ?
I haven't tested it. I will have to check. Sounds like the steps might need adjusting.
Hey Dave, just had a quick question in regards to this topic. We bought an S1 from xTools and its riser base component. Smoke seems to be escaping from somewhere in the chamber, can’t pinpoint it though. I ordered a 4” inline fan and the 3D printed adapter for 4” duct hose. Any thoughts on all of that? I’m hoping I don’t have a pile of returns on my hands…thank you!
Depending on the length of hose, probably not enough air flow through the exhaust. I would add some power for sure. The factory fan is a little smaller than I would like, if running it a long way, not enough. I think xtool was expecting short exhaust runs or using their filter.
@@TheClackShack that’s my hope, we’ve got it on a work bench probably 4-4.5ft off the ground and then a window above around ~8ft on the wall. I assume with the additional power and some tape on all the hose, that should help. Maybe cracking the door to the riser base would help get some negative pressure?
@@DoSomethingProductive the riser should naturally allow enough if it’s like mine
@@TheClackShack I’ll give it a shot and report back. We have the one for the conveyer feeder attachment. Thank you again!
I love my F1. I bought a 3d printer to make jigs for the ra2 to hold yeti and different stanley perfectly level.
Cool. 3D printing is handy
Those faux leather keychains are pretty decent sellers
Seem to be
Do you sell the file for the jig?
No, hangers vary in size and shape. I sell systems for multiple machines and it isn’t hard to make the item file.
i have Z1 and wanted the 20 watt. This helps my decision. Will get it and do the things you showed. I do not need workspace more than 200x 200 so this will work out well for me
Good deal
Gadsden flag is a nice touch. I'll subscribe :-)
Thanks.. they are everywhere
Looks great!
Thanks
Great video. When you use this laser at shows, is there an issue for ventilation? I only have a diode laser and feel it would be impossible for the majority of events..thanks..always enjoy your info and videos
I only do outdoor events and use an air filter for cutting wood.
I'm Curious if the IR/Fiber will engrave/mark cast iron?
It should..
I've seen it advertised that it can make 3D embossings. I'd love to see how realistic it actually is to do a job like that
Trying it out. We will see..
I'm surprised Steve didn't already sticker a cell on the wall. lol
He did, I took down the sticker.. lol
With the 1064 Fiber will it cut clear acrylic?
No, that is a job for a CO2
awesome video
Thanks!
Sorry for missing the live but as your birthday was the 22 of June mine was the 23rd lol but I'm a bit older then you for I turned 63
